Geoffrey Morris has played a decisive role in the development of the
contemporary guitar in Australia. To date he has performed more than
100 first performances of new works ranging from compositions for solo
guitar to chamber music and work using electronics.
He has been responsible for the introduction of numerous works of
international significance to Australia audiences, including those by
Franco DONATONI, Aldo CLEMENTI, John CAGE, Brian FERNEYHOUGH and
James DILLON. As a member of ELISION Ensemble he has forged relationships
with composers such as Richard BARRETT, Chris DENCH, Michael FINNISSY
and David YOUNG.
Geoffrey also regularly performs for Aphids Events, CME, and has
been an associate artist with the Gavin Bryars ensemble, the
Song Company, and Ensemble 21.
As a soloist he has given recitals in the United States, Europe and
Japan as well as throughout Australia.
