David writes of Il Modello dei Modelli:
`"the model of models" is a reference to a short story by Italo Calvino.
this work explores, in two movements, the "lacerations and contortions and
compressions" that the body and mind is forced to undergo. the performers
are asked to extend and contort themselves within very specific boundaries,
for example in pitch where mean temperament is required, adding microtonal
tension throughout. the "transitory, irrelevant accidents" which occur
as a result of this tension are very much the substance of this work´
The objectives of the ELISION Composer Podium is to draw
attention to the work of an
emerging Australian composer, and provide a platform not only for performance,
but documentation and critical review. The Podium aims to assist the
selected composer through the generation of an industry awareness of their
work nationally and internationally. It will draw attention to the breadth
and scope of the composer's work.
