1998 Programme
1998 begins with ELISION Ensemble renewing its 1996 association with
Ensemble Modern in a performance of
Zender's Winterreise
for the Adelaide Festival 1998.
The inaugural ELISION composer podium celebrates the work
of David YOUNG,
who, since a 1992 ELISION commission, has been regularly featured within
ELISION programming in Australian and international concerts and broadcast
recordings.
A sixth European tour focussed around performances and recordings of
Richard BARRETT's Opening of the Mouth takes the ensemble for the first time to
Denmark, and includes and extensive debut involvement with
the Festival Ars Musica of Belgium, and a return to
Bremen.
The Strange Customs concert pursues ideas and themes in a 1997
performance for the Brisbane Festival, entitled PACIFICA, as well as
facilitating the completion of a Liza LIM disc, to be entitled
The Heart's Ear, scheduled for release on ABC Classics.
von hinter dem Schmerz/from behind the Pain explores the vocal modulation of instrumental timbre, of
relationships between text and notated and/or improvised works.
The final performances at the 1998 Melbourne Festival
gives the 1998 ELISION agenda an active presence over four
Australian states.
