1996 Programme
. . . and now we are Ten
1996--our tenth year--is celebrated by a special
Tenth Anniversary Concert in Sydney. This concert
highlights the talents of Australian composers Adam YEE,
David YOUNG and Mary FINSTERER alongside landmark repertoire from the history
of the group, Chris DENCH's driftglass and Richard BARRETT's
Another heavenly day, as well as a world premiere performance
of a new work by Karlheinz STOCKHAUSEN.
In October we join forces with Ensemble Modern, arguably Europe's finest
specialist contemporary music ensemble, for a concert in
Melbourne, featuring music of
György LIGETI, Adam YEE and Helmut LACHENMANN, and
including the world premiere of a new work written for the combined ensembles,
Liza LIM's The Alchemical Wedding.
The highlight of this busy year will be our third European Concert Tour
(see below for the members of the touring party).
Starting in November, the tour takes in
Vienna, Bremen,
Huddersfield and Oslo,
performing music of Liza LIM, Alesandro MELCHIORRE, ITO Ken and Richard BARRETT.
Performances by ELISION Soloists will occur in
Sydney in August, and in
Huddersfield, and four centres in
Norway as part of the tour.
