Pierre-André VALADE conductor
Pierre-André Valade was born in Brive, France in 1959.
After a successful international career as a flautist, he took up
conducting full-time in 1990. In 1991 he co-founded the Paris based
`Ensemble Court-Circuit´ (together with Philippe HUREL), of which he
is music director.
Pierre-André Valade is especially well-known for his performances of
repertoire from the 20th century, having been inspired by Pierre Boulez
with whom has been in close contact for many years. In this capacity,
he has regular invitations to major festivals and orchestras in countries
such as England, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
Australia as well as his native France. These include concerts with the
Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony, Orchestra Philharmonique de Strasbourg and
I Solisti di Milano. His recording of Grisey's
Les Espaces Acoustiques has won both the
`Diapason d'or de l'anneé 1999´ and the `Grand Prix de
l'Académie Charles Cros´.
Appearances in 2000 include concerts at the Helsinki Festival,
with L'Itineraire, the London Sinfonietta, Avanti Ensemble,
Orchestras of Caen, Nancy, Metz, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Ensemble Modern
and the Ensemble InterContemporain. He makes his debuts with the
BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France,
Orchestra di Santa Cecilia Rome and Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa.
