Stephen ROBINSON oboe/oboe d'amore/cor anglais
Stephen Robinson studied oboe with Norman WEINER at the
Victorian College of the Arts and with Heinz HOLLIGER at the Musikhochschule
in Freiburg, Germany. He spent a period in Italy as a guest Solo
Oboist with the renowned chamber orchestra, I Solisti Veneti.
In 1983 Stephen returned to Australia to take up the position
of Principal Oboe with the Queensland Theatre Orchestra,
and late in 1984 became the Principal Cor Anglais of the
Melbourne Symphony. In 1985, he took up his present position
as Principal Oboe of the Orchestra Victoria.
As well as being a member of Melbourne Windpower and teaching
at the Victorian College of the Arts and The University of Melbourne,
Stephen is a member of the internationally acclaimed contemporary
music ensemble ELISION with whom he has made numerous
compact discs
and taken part in three European tours. When not playing music,
Stephen enjoys playing with his family, his bonsai plants, his
computer or his cat.
