Franck OLLU conductor
Franck Ollu was born in La Rochelle, France. He studied music in Paris
(french horn with George BARBOTEU and André CAZALET,
composition with Jean-François ZIEGEL), and was also a member
of Musique Vivante in Paris, from 1987--1990. In 1990 he became a member
of Ensemble Modern and moved to Frankfurt, became their principal horn player,
and now appears with them on a regular basis as a conductor.
Franck has been assistant conductor to Jonathan NOTT with the Bamberg
Symphoniker and the Luzern Symphonie Orchestra. From September 2000,
he has been the assistant conductor at the Ensemble InterContemporain in
Paris. He has also conducted various ensembles for contemporary music
including Ensemble Modern, the ensemble 2e2M (Paris), the Asko
Ensemble (Amsterdam), and the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris.
He will be the Artistic Director of KammerensembleN in Stockholm from the
2004/05 season onwards.
Also in the 2004/05 season, Franck will appear with Ensemble Modern for the
first performances of an opera by Olga NEUWIRTH. The opera will be
performed in Graz (premiere), Vienna, Cologne, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt and
Amsterdam. Alongside this new production, he will appear with Ensemble Modern
for other projects, and will lead concerts with the Bayerischer Rundfunk,
London Sinfonietta, KammerensembleN, the Swedish Radio Choir, the Remix
ensemble and ELISION Ensemble
