Friedrich GAUWERKY violoncello
Born in Hamburg, Friedrich Gauwerky gave his first public
performances
at the age of twelve. He maintains worldwide activities as a soloist and as a
chamber musican in ensembles such as Trio Pleyel, Ensemble Köln,
Ensemble Modern, and ELISION Ensemble. He has been featured as a soloist with
several orchestras and has participated in radio and television productions
throughout Europe, the USA, Asia, Australia and CIS countries.
He has recorded for Deutshe Grammophon Gesellschaft, RICORDI, ETCETERA, and
AMP records. Lectureships in violoncello have been held at various tertiary
institutions including the Musikhochschule Köln, the Royal Academy of
Music London, the University of California, the University of Adelaide,
and others.
ELISION has featured Friedrich as a soloist in the Australian
premiere of Volker HEYN's K'mon Siggibeybe for violoncello and
nine musicians, and composers who have written for him extensively include
Richard BARRETT, David YOUNG, and many others.
