ELISION turns Twenty
The distance covered writes ELISION's Artistic Director
Daryl BUCKLEY in a recent article marking the
twentieth year of the ELISION Ensemble. Celebrating that
distance covered, ELISION presents Mother Tongue,
a concert entirely of Australian and world premieres, in
Brisbane on June 10 and
Sydney on June 11. Featuring music of
Liza LIM, Chris DENCH, Timothy O'DWYER and John RODGERS, the artists
and friends will include
Jean DEROYER (France),
Piia KOMSI (Finland),
Graeme JENNINGS (USA),
Marilyn NONKEN (USA),
John BUTCHER (UK),
Peter VEALE (NZ),
Carl ROSMAN (Germany) and
Patricia SYKES (Australia).
Also in this year's programme, ELISION brings Liza LIM's
Chinese ritual street-opera
Yuè Lìng Jié to the Brisbane Festival, enters the world of cinema in
Ghosts Before Breakfast, explores d-CONSTRUCTION with the music of
Richard BARRETT and James GARDNER and, by way of
Liverpool, European City of Culture 2008, takes up its
second residency at Hudderfield, the UK's
leading contemporary music event.
