ITO Ken
Japanese composer ITO Ken, born 1965, graduated from both the
Department of Physics and the Department of General Culture at
Tokyo University. After studies with Jo KONDO, John CAGE,
Yoritsune MATSUDAIRA and being awarded various composition prizes,
he worked as the Artistic Director for the Mono Opera's
The Tale of Gengi by Y. T. Matsudaira.
He was a Ministry of Culture fellow at the Tokyo Philharmonic
Symphony Orchestra and has conducted concerts in the USA,
Japan and Denmark. His works have been performed in the USA, Japan
Finland, Austria, and England. His first work for ELISION Ensemble was
Subjectile Forcene, performed at the 1996 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
