Income Sources
ELISION receives income from a diverse range of sources, including festivals
and concert organisations, broadcast stations, recording
companies, and concert ticket sales. ELISION also receives cultural subsidies
from a range of cultural institutions, government bodies and the private
sector. We are keen to increase the proportion of private and corporate
sponsorship, either generally or for specific projects.
In 2007, ELISION gratefully acknowledges the core
financial assistance of the Commonwealth of Australia through the
Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body;
the State of Queensland through Arts Queensland;
and the support of the The University of Queensland through the Office of
the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Hay.
Specific projects in our 2006 Programme were supported through
The Trans-Tasman Composer Exchange Residency, a collaboration
between the Australian Music Centre and SOUNZ, The Centre for New
Zealand Music made possible with the support of Creative New Zealand, the
Undergrowth Initiative through the Community Partnerships and Market
Development Division of the Australia Council, Goethe Institut-Sydney,
CEMAT, Sonora, and the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts.
The twentieth birthday concert series was greatly assisted by the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation and many thanks go also to Stephen Adams,
the Australian Music Curator for ABC Classic FM.
The support of the Brisbane Festival, the Australian Music Centre, and many
others have been crucial to the 2006 season.
ELISION would like to thank Robert Leonard and Katrina Stubbs
of the Institute of Modern Art, the Orchestras of Victoria and Western Australia,
the Melbourne and Sydney Sympphonys, Symphony Australia,
Cramer Ball of Gulf Air and many others.
Past projects and programmes have been supported financially by
many other government and private funding bodies, including
Pro-Helvetia,
The British Council,
Norske Kulturråd,
Norse Skog Follum,
Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Norsk Kassettavgiftsfond,
Cikada Ensemble,
Festival UltraSchall Berlin,
the Queensland Biennial Festival of Music,
the Goethe Institut-Melbourne,
the State of Victoria through Arts Victoria,
and many others.
The overwhelming component of ELISION's income goes toward making
music--to the costs of mounting public performances, travel, and of course
the salaries of the professional musicians who form the ensemble.
Administration and management is afforded the minimum consistent with
providing effective professional support for the ensemble's activities.
We also acknowledge the organisation's many friends who volunteer their time
and effort for no reward other than ensuring the continued success of the
ensemble.
In an amazing twenty-first year of activity ELISION would also like to thank
all of the audiences, composers, conductors, visual artists, musicians,
board members and creative people who came along for the adventure that
began in Melbourne many years ago when Stephen Morey, later joined
by Peter Neville, suggested to Daryl Buckley that he start
a new music ensemble.
