Ysolt Clark — french horn


Ysolt Clark regularly performs with internationally renowned contemporary music ensemble ELISION. Recent projects have included four seasons of Liza Lim’s third opera, The Navigator in Brisbane, Melbourne, Moscow and Paris. These performances took place as part of the Brisbane Festival, Melbourne International Arts Festival, Chekhov International Festival of Theatre and Festival d’Automne Paris. Ysolt has played horn for ELISION recordings including the important release of chamber music by Brian Ferneyhough on the KARIOS label (Terrain and Les Froissement des Ailes de Gabriel) as well as premiering chamber works by Robert Dahm, Chris Dench and Dominik Karski in concert and live radio broadcast.


Born in Canberra, Ysolt Clark studied at the Canberra School Of Music, and won the position of Principal Third Horn with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at the age of twenty-one. She was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra for five years, and toured extensively overseas and nationally with this group and with other chamber music ensembles. She has performed with many orchestras including the Sydney, Adelaide, West Australian, Tasmanian and Singapore Symphony Orchestras. Ysolt left The Queensland Orchestra after eight years to further pursue her love of chamber music and of music education. Ysolt has performed for Musica Viva in schools and has worked with many ensembles including the Southern Cross Soloists.


Ysolt Clark teaches at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, several schools, and has an extensive private teaching practice. She also conducts the Young Conservatorium Brass Ensemble and is an examiner for the Australian Music Examinations Board, Queensland.
