
Genevieve Lacey is internationally acclaimed as a recorder virtuoso. She has created new possibilities for her instrument and the contexts in which it is played. Genevieve has a substantial recording catalogue and a high-profile career as soloist with orchestras and ensembles around the world. She is the Artistic Director of the Four Winds Festival 2008-12. Genevieve is passionate about contemporary music and she has collaborated with, commissioned, premiered and recorded music by many composers, working across multiple genres. She has performed at many of the world’s pre-eminent music and arts festivals including The Proms, Paris Festival d’Automne, Moscow Chekhov International Theatre Festival, Klangboden Wien, Copenhagen Summer, Sablé, Montalbane, MaerzMusik, Europäisches Musikfest, Mitte Europa, David Oistrakh Festival Estonia, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cheltenham, Huddersfield, Lichfield, Melbourne, Spitalfields, Sydney, Perth and Warwick Festivals. Her new work, en masse, was created with London filmmaker Marc Silver, and is appearing in festivals in Australia and internationally 2010-12. She was commissioned by Scott Rankin and Big hART to create the music for Namatjira, touring nationally and internationally 2010-12. Genevieve’s work has won her multiple awards including an ARIA, Freedman Fellowship, Churchill Fellowship, Best Performance (Australian Music Awards) and Outstanding Musician (Melbourne Prize for Music). She holds academic and performance degrees (including a doctorate) in music and English literature from universities in Melbourne, Switzerland and Denmark.
